Lotus Bench in New Orleans

A fantastical sculptural mosaic bench was created on St Claude Ave in New Orleans during two Creative Placemaking workshops at True Mosaics Studio last month, taught by master sculpture Brent Sumner and myself. Students came from around the country and New Orleans for the back-to-back workshops. 

Project design by Laurel True, creation by Creative Placemaking workshop students and community members: Jamie Hill, Randy Sanders, Bonnie Bayer, Vicki Murphy, Lori Hogan, Ellen Burr, Esther Kim, Heather Hunter, Frankie Muller with guest artist Dhaj Sumner. Assistance by community member Carolyn Kolbe from the nearby Shank Charcuterie. Mosaic eyes by Haitian artists Josue Jean and Mario Jeudi

We have already scheduled another session of these workshop in October 2016!
