Decorative Mosaics: Functional Objects

Level: Any, beginning and continuing students welcome

This one-day workshop is perfect for students who want to learn the basics of making functional and decorative mosaic objects… and perfect for students who want to make handmade, personalized holiday gifts.

Laurel will present basic lecture and demonstration for cutting glass for mosaics as well as covering the basics of color combining, adhesives, setting on different surfaces and finishing.

Students will have a great range of materials to select from to create their projects including: colored glass and mirror, vitreous glass and glass gems.

Several different types of mosaic bases will be offered to choose from including
glass bottles, small trays, votives, coasters, 10’ x 10” mirror or photo frame.

Students are welcome to make multiple objects if they stay within the timeframe of the workshop.

There will be a short break for lunch. Students are welcome to bring a lunch or visit one of the many places in the neighborhood.
